Made In Maine:

We All Have A Role To Play In The COVID-19 Pandemic

Abbott, a long-time customer and partner of CW Hayden, has a laboratory and manufacturing plant in Scarborough, Maine, where a new COVID-19 test is being produced.

CW Hayden, whose headquarters is 35 miles north in Auburn, Maine, has been tasked with supplying Abbott's employees with personal protective equipment (PPE) as well as shipping products and materials. Abbott is using 3M's double-sided tape to properly and safely secure boxes of the 50,000 tests being produced each day for distribution.

National public health experts are already calling the made-in-Maine tests a potential "game-changer" in the fight against the coronavirus.

Abbott designed and will be mass-producing the tests to the tune of 5 million per month. These tests will be made solely at their laboratories here in Maine and are capable of delivering results in as little as 5 minutes for positive results and 15 minutes for negative results.

They will start producing the tests on April 1, and begin shipping them to some of the hardest-hit parts of the country as soon as possible. Abbott has said they will probably start out in places like Michigan, New York and some areas within Maine. More info on this project will come soon and we will keep you updated.

We are honored to play our small role in this fight and will continue to deliver products and supplies to Abbott as well as to all our hospitals, doctors' offices, police departments and other emergency medical services during this time.
